July 2018 Jiu-Jitsu & Muay Thai Seminar

On their recent visit to Belize, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist Matt Salinas and Muay Thai based MMA fighter Kohl Laren held multiple seminars for kids and adults alike throughout the country.

10 Planet Jiu-Jitsu

Dawson’s Pit Fighters hosted Matt, Kohl, Aaron Smith and the team from 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 July.

Everyone involved very much enjoyed the sessions and are very grateful to Aaron Smith for organizing the visit as well as to the entire team for their time and approach – thanks!

We are already looking forward to next year’s annual visit!

Vic Thériault: From Georges St-Pierre to Dawson’s Pit Fighters

In April 2018 we had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed Canadian kick-boxer and striking coach Vic Thériault. Vic is also the founder of Aisudan Promotions and brother of the legendary original ‘Iceman’ – Jean Yves Thériault.

The Thériault brothers are reknowned for their kickboxing pedigree and Vic certainly demonstrated this during the couple of sessions he held with our team. Amongst other items, Vic shared some novel training technqiues focused on lower body flexibility as well as mixed combinations training.

If you would like a glimpse into the Thériault style, check out the following Jean Yves highlight reel on YouTube: Jean Yves Thériault Highlights

Additionally, you can find out more about Vic’s visit to San Pedro and Dawson’s Pit Fighers school in this article from the San Pedro Sun.

Kids Self-Defense Seminar Dec 2017

On 7 December 2017 we held our first outdoor childrens self-defense seminar in San Pedro’s Central Park. The free seminar was well attended and was a great success by all accounts.

Similarly, the ethics demonstrated by the participants was wonderful and we would like to thank everyone who was involved, particularly the San Pedro Town Council, who sponsored the event, as well as the San Pedro Sun for this article.
