On Saturday 7 July, Dawson’s Pit Fighters competed in the 2018 edition of Chetumal Xtreme Cage.
This was the second time that local fighters from Dawson´s Pit Fighters participated in this annual event. Initially four fighters from the local team were scheduled to participate in the event – Jeremy Hernandez, Tyson Alvarez, Gavin J. Duffy and Allen Cawich.
In the lead up to event, however, Tyson Alvarez had to pull out of his contest, leaving the other three fighters to represent San Pedro and Belize in the event. After several months of training and prepartions for their respective fights, the three fighters left for Mexico with coach Martin Dawson on Friday 6 July in a confident and positive mood.
While the team only scored one win from three, all three fighters gave a good account of themselves and the team. The experience gained was equally important for the team as we continue to go from strength to strength.
Having returned to training as normal, Martin Dawson and the team are now eyeing the possibility of hosting a return event in San Pedro, with local Belizean fighters taking on their Mexican rivals!
